As a byproduct of the COVID-19 pandemic, much of today’s workforce has either adopted a hybrid work schedule or is now entirely remote. This has resulted in a number of cars just sitting around, not accruing miles at the rate they once used to. Nissan has adapted to this changing commuter landscape with a special lease structure for customers who use their vehicles minimally. This low-mileage arrangement is called SignatureFLEX.
Low-mileage leases are great for many reasons, but one of their chief attributes is that they help drivers in this category save cash with lower monthly payments. Plus, while typical low-mileage contracts limit their lease agreements to 10,000 miles, Nissan’s SignatureFLEX contract begins at 5,000 miles per year for three years, which is practically unheard of. What is SignatureFLEX?
The Nissan SignatureFLEX program is an ultra-low mileage lease agreement that sets the mileage cap at 5,000 per year for three years. While that number might seem low, lessees will be able to purchase additional miles at 10 cents per mile, and there’s no limit to how many times they can add to the contract. As of this writing, only three Nissan vehicles are eligible for SignatureFLEX – Rogue, Rogue Sport, and Pathfinder – but Nissan will likely add more models to the program’s roster in the near future.
How Does SignatureFLEX Work?
In partnership with Nissan Connected Car Services, the Nissan Motor Acceptance Company (NMAC) will be able to use Connected Car data to alert customers when their leased vehicle is reaching its mileage limit. Although lessees cannot purchase miles at the start of their lease, they can do so during the lease term. They can also keep track of their purchased mileage directly from the NMAC customer portal or the NMAC mobile app. Opted-in customers will get quarterly mileage statements as well that show the forecasted usage and other purchase options, in addition to emails informing them of when they are approaching their over-mileage limit.

The SignatureFLEX program with an Ultra-Low Mileage Lease is designed to give lessees greater flexibility and peace of mind by enabling them not only to reap the benefits of a low-mileage lease but also by allowing them to purchase additional miles if they think they will exceed the limit. As always, drivers with higher mileage requirements have other fantastic options with Nissan’s 10K, 12K, and 15K lease plans.
