Bring everyone together in our most capable crossover.

People really love the Nissan Murano, and it’s easy to see why. This long-popular crossover has a winning combination of modern good looks, utility, and sought-after features, including excellent driver-assist technologies via Safety Shield 360. Model year 2022 brings a few noteworthy changes, with the second trim level, the SV, adding to its standard equipment list with simulated leather seats that are heated in the front row. The Midnight Edition, marked by its blacked-out elements, also makes its debut in the Murano lineup.

Mechanical Specs

Buyers of the 2022 Nissan Murano can choose from the S, SV, Midnight Edition, SL, and Platinum. Their powertrain is a 260 horsepower (240 lb.-ft. of torque) 3.5-liter six-cylinder working with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is the default, with all-wheel drive optional. The EPA has estimated the Murano’s fuel efficiency at 20 miles per gallon around town and 28 mpg on the highway, regardless of drivetrain or trim. It can also handle a small trailer with a total weight of 1,500 pounds.

Trims and Standard Features

The S gets things started with a nice list of equipment, from auto on/off LED headlights to dual-zone climate control. It also has keyless entry, push-button ignition, chrome exterior elements, rear privacy glass, a 7-inch LCD drive-assist display, four USB ports (two regular and two USB-C), two 12-volt power outlets, stainless-steel scuff plates, and a 60/40-split rear seatback with an armrest. The SV adds remote start, LED fog lights, heated side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable seats (heated in the front row), a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and – as mentioned in the intro – simulated leather upholstery. The newly introduced Midnight Edition has similar equipment but with a blacked-out appearance package with roof rails, splash guards, and illuminated scuff plates.

The SL gets silver roof rails, genuine leather seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, ambient interior lighting, a hands-free liftgate, position memory for the exterior mirrors and the driver’s seat, and a HomeLink universal garage door opener. A dual-panel panoramic moonroof is optional. The Platinum Edition makes the moonroof standard along with semi-aniline leather seating in a diamond-quilted pattern (heated and ventilated in the front row), and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a power tilt-and-telescopic column and position memory.

Nissan Safety Shield 360

The Nissan Safety Shield 360 driver-assist technology suite comes standard on all trims. In the base S that means automatic high beams, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, reverse automatic braking, automatic lane intervention, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear sonar, and Intelligent Driver Alertness (driver attention monitor). Intelligent (adaptive) Cruise Control and front sonar are added at the SV level, and the SL and Platinum get the Intelligent Around-View Monitor and traffic sign recognition.

Staying Connected

The base edition of NissanConnect comes on the first three trims, furnishing an 8-inch touchscreen (it can also be controlled using voice recognition), Bluetooth for hands-free phone calls and audio streaming, smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), hands-free text messaging, SiriusXM satellite radio, Siri Eyes Free, and an audio system with six speakers. Navigation gets added to the SL and above, along with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link; these higher trims also upgrade their sound system to a Bose unit with 11 speakers and dual subwoofers. The Platinum alone receives capability for NissanConnect remote vehicle services.
